You should NEVER EVER SandBlast/Beadblast any engine parts, except the side covers, that are painted. Once sandblasted, the cast aluminum parts will never get the factory cast look again.
  • If you are planning to do any engine work, get an engine rebuilding manual, like CLYMER repair manual for CT motorcycles.
  • Remember to get all the needed items beforehand, including Gaskets, Seals, Piston and Rings and don't forget the TOOLS.
  • Dismantling an old engine is very messy, get a big metal tray (available at auto parts stores) and it will help contain the mess.
  • Plan to spend 10 to 12 hours for a complete engine rebuild, and about 18 to 24 hours of work for a show quality restoration.
  • A clean dust free area is necessary for reassembly.
