Usually the coils are in good shape. The plug, condenser, felt pad, and points will need replacement.
Bend the longer tab over the wire from the points, and the top and bottom coils.
If you are replacing everything, including the coils, make sure you sand the insulation off the coil end. Otherwise you will not have a good connection.
Condenser with new Felt.
Always replace the felt pad. It lubricates the shaft and your points will last longer and will need fewer readjustments.
Solder all the wires to the smaller tab. Install the condenser in the round recess in the stator plate.
Rebuilt Magneto with new coils, points, condenser, wires, and felt pad.
The free wire is for the neutral switch.
The Stator is the heart of the electrical and ignition system.
Almost all years of CT70 had the same Magneto and ignition components. The major difference is that the earlier year CT70 K0 model engines did not have a Neutral Switch and the associated ground wire. These connectors have an empty space on the plug.
New Kits are available for rebuilding the complete Stator , including both coils, points, condenser, O rings, Felt pad, and plug. Stator Rebuild Kit
Note:
Z50 Magneto is exactly the same as the CT70, except the later CT70 engines had a Neutral Switch. A neutral switch can be added to any CT70 or Z50 engine. The blank space has to be machined and a neutral contact point has to be added to the transmission shift drum.
